My travel tips: Rose water, keyboards, peppermint, and mantras

My travel tips: Rose water, keyboards, peppermint, and mantras

I’m on a few airplanes every year. “Few” is a relative term. Maybe a lot of airplanes. And, having five planets in Virgo (tho’ my Sun is in Gemini, FYI), I like things just “so.” I love my systems, my best finds, my compartments, and my comforting things. (This is way less neurotic than it sounds.) Here’s how I keep it all together and cozy on the road…

The real you is waiting. In here. Not out there.

The real you is waiting. In here. Not out there.

You can’t patch your Soul’s truth together with workshops, and a wardrobe, and identity choices. You’ll likely spend half of your life trying to do just that. Composing. Polishing. Packaging. Facing outward, even though it’s all inward. Eventually, you’ll stop looking out there. In the middle of the noise and the obligations it will dawn on you (maybe right now) that the real you emerges…

Soul soup. (Keep this in mind when you’re falling apart.)

There will be a time, a passage when you don’t really know who you were, or are, or can be. It’s natural, it’s divine, and it’s the chemistry of beautiful, awesome change. This passage can happen in big dramatic swells, as years of not quite knowing what you want to do; or seasons of confusion that aren’t quite depressing, but confusing enough to invite sadness in…

a prayer for expectation addicts: show up. shine. let it go.

The Buddhists have a term for a particular flavor of faith: bright faith. This is not the bedrock kind of faith that grounds your psychology, spirituality, or devotion. It’s not the assurance/insurance kind of faith where we hope/trust that life will come through for us. It’s the Holy wow, I’m standing at the beginning of something that is so insanely ripe with potential that I wanna get naked and roll all over it right now, while singing rock opera…kind of faith.

burning questions with the communicatrix: from the hip, to the heart

Colleen Wainwright’s approach to creativity and marketing is like Buddhist-meets-Ninja-meets-BareNaked Ladies, with a lil’ Joni Mitchell thrown in. Just when you’re all charmed by her sass, she’ll throw out some cosmic truth that makes you go “yeah, true dat!” So lean in and listen up. The Communicatrix never fails to say precisely what she means and make you love her for it.
