Interview Conversation Starters + Talking Points
- The Inner Child is a symbol to guide us through our shadowlands. It’s our deep sensitivity, our unhealed self that’s crying to be tended to.
- To heal our Inner Child is the most powerful medicine. All other healing is secondary to this—it’s that important.
- This is key to understand: your Inner Child is not a version of you when you were a kid. Working with your Inner Child isn’t about going back in time. We can just let our Inner Child show us what it wants to show us today, in present time. They’ll show you all the unhealed perspectives that you’re carrying—and how to heal them.
- When we’re hostile and abusive with ourselves, we’re actually denying our shadow side. The harsh treatment just numbs the pain that needs to be healed. It’s a pain pileup that can lead to more self-violence.
Your paranoia, your selfishness, your nastiest thinking—whatever you’re keeping in the basement of your psyche, just pour Love on it. Sometimes those fragments will flail and kvetch. Your neediness will get whinier. Your rage will screech. That’s fine.
Your heart is immense. You’ve got space for everything. Inside the cocoon of Compassion that is your heart center, all the abandoned parts of yourself will metamorphose. And the fears that tried to keep you from living will become the Wisdom that guides your life.
…keep communicating with your shadows. It doesn’t matter how illogical or outrageous your deep emotions seem. Hear the Wisdom and the madness. No silencing. No criticism. All Acceptance. If you gaslight your unconscious, you will never have a truthful conversation with yourself.
- When do our self-care boundaries stop protecting and start isolating us from Love? Creating clear boundaries is an important part in our development. We have to go through the process of realizing, “I’m a people pleaser, that’s not healthy. I need to have standards and state them and uphold them.” That’s honoring yourself; that’s maturity and self-respect. Fantastic! Now you know what I suggest? Now that you have boundaries, dissolve a lot of them.
- We’ve been conditioned to believe that holding strict boundaries is “better” than accepting a person or the situation as it is.
- Healthy boundaries are… healthy. But boundaries aren’t the end result of divine empowerment. Boundaries are a developmental stage.
So many of us are wanting to be Loved unconditionally, while we’re holding on to a lot of our own conditions. That creates inner conflict. We receive what we give. If we’re excessively boundaried, we swing back and forth from a “this works for me” and “this doesn’t work for me” pendulum of judgment.
So… boundaries as a developmental part of our awakening? YES. Excessive barriers that divide us into superior and inferior? No need for that.
- Emotions are habitualized thoughts. Emotions come from the past. Every emotion has a reference point that’s connected to something that happened or something we were taught or trained to believe before this current moment. Emotions live in the subconscious. They hang out in the shadow zone…
- Every single feeling arises to be experienced and integrated into our hearts. Which is to say, every emotion is trying to get our attention.
- Feelings are a form of energy, and even the so-called negative or dark feelings come bearing potential dynamism and Light. If we don’t truthfully acknowledge how we’re feeling, we create energy blockages. Worse than that, we miss out on the expansiveness that comes from being conscious and attentive to our interior experience. Neglected feelings are missed insights.
- But…! We want to fully feel our feelings without over-identifying with them. Feel them and release them. Love them, don’t try to possess them.
- Most simply, the ego is the unhealed part of us. Or more succinctly, the ego is the way our unhealed self acts. It’s not an entity outside of ourselves, it’s our creation. It’s a way of exaggerating a sense of a separate self… And the ego acts like it wants to keep it that way… but it doesn’t. Not really. The ego is looking for Love.
- It’s not so much that we have an ego, it’s that we “ego” our way through life. When we could be Loving, we’re ego-ing.
- What’s driving our obsession with optimization and human performance measurements? Could be an evolutionary impulse. Could be the ego on steroids. You can’t life hack your way to Wisdom. The heart wants to take us to the revelatory place where we identify as something greater than our body and personalities, to the depth of consciousness where we do not fear death or old age. And further still to where we self-activate the Wisdom in our own cells. There’s so much exciting science being unfurled to support our wellness. But the greatest frontier is where the mind meets the Divine.
- We exist, we think, we feel. But… we tend to overthink, get consumed by feelings, and forget that we are pure existence.
- A meaningful life isn’t necessarily predicated on how we feel. Emotions and desire are evolutionarily useful, but they’re not what we’re evolving toward. If we let emotions and desires run our show, we’re in for a lot of drama and distraction.
The higher aim is to put the heart in the lead, honoring our emotions as they arise, and put all of our desires to work for inclusive Love—for everyone’s happiness.
How do I want to feel? is an essential inquiry for self-awareness and honouring our humanity.
But we can’t stop there.We keep rising. Including and transcending our experiences. We activate our higher energy centers. We grow upward.
And then a new question takes us even further into the heart:
What do I want to embody?- Too much clinging to our personal traits and we end up congested with opinions. We become hard to please. Botherable. Political. Separatist in subtle and overt ways. This bleeds into our social media sphere too: a subtle pressure to stake our claims regarding world events, culture, aesthetics… The shadow nature is always pushing us to pick a side and go public with it—and so we close our minds to the possibility that our opinions change. It’s all the trappings of cancel culture…
- We’re in such a crisis of human division that true virtue is getting canceled as virtue signaling, and the cancelers of virtue are lauded as virtuous. Ultimately your intentions—for goodwill or ill—are between you and the Infinite.
- Virtues are not something that you “do” or perform. They’re not a behavioral system for earning your keep on the planet. Virtues are the Light of Truth that flows into you and out of you. To be virtuous is simply to reflect the divinity of life. Virtuousness is true self-realization.
- Letting go: how do we transform something so that it not longer takes up energy within us? We LOVE it. Rather than trying to hack or banish our fear, we embrace it. And that’s when it dissolves.
- On one level, it’s productive to make the connection between past pain points and what we’ve created in our current life. Seeing what we’re creating is brilliant self-responsibility. It’s a means to empowerment. But! There’s a shadow side of correlating our past with our present life. We keep digging up what we’ve laid to rest. And when we do that, we’re reenergizing that old pattern. We’re reinforcing the old form. The retelling of those painful stories can hold us back from healing.
- What we often call self development is sadly just that––more development of a limited “self”––when what the heart is calling for is fewer selfies and more Soul.
- Your heart is open. All of the time, actually. We only think that we open or close our hearts. It’s our mind that manufactures thoughts that veil our Loving nature.
- How do you move steadily through an epic shift for the human race? How do you do what needs to be done for your Soul’s work? And for the next generation? How do you steer with Love when you’re dealing with polarized personal conflict and a world that looks like it’s out of control?
Focus on what YOU have the immediate power to control: how you perceive yourself.

How does a divine perspective work when a problem surfaces? Let’s say you have a painful physical challenge that you’re working to heal. The pain occurs. And before you choose your reaction to the pain sensation, you breathe into your heart and ask yourself, “What am I identifying with?”
Are you seeing yourself as the pain in your body? You’re bigger than any physical pain sensation. Are you the body that’s holding the pain? Your energy extends far beyond your organs and skin. Are you the brain that’s firing pain signals? No, that’s just your biology. Are you the mental mind that’s chattering to you about pain levels and remedies? Those are thoughts and feelings—and you are most definitely not your thoughts or feelings.
You are the consciousness that’s observing the thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations. You’re the Eternal Loving Presence that’s witnessing your current personality and body having a particular experience. And that means that you can use your consciousness to transform the pain into healing. You are not the wound. You are the healer.
So! When any type of pain occurs you can think, “I’m Jane, and I’m sad and scared, and this hurts”. Which is probably how you will feel because you’re human. Hold those feelings ever so gently. But keep your energy moving toward your heart center. You can make a choice at that moment to stay stuck in the limited identification, or you can breathe into your heart and remember that “I am the Eternal Loving Presence.” And that means you have a universe of resources to draw on.
Or you can keep believing that you’re just Jane.
