We trigger each other into wholeness.

Four months post wedding vows and my man and I were maxing each other OUT. Storm-out-and leave fighting. Days with terse texts. Agony. Terrible doubts. I think one day we fought about who was more triggerable by the triggering triggers. It was… triggering.

Making up. Integrating the lessons of the ruptures. Apologizing, Listening. Interrupting. Tenuous to say things that would re-trigger. Agreeing not to fight about it. Counting the days til the next counseling session. All the while…

Holding hands everywhere we go, cooking, belly laughing. Loving. Saying Metta Bhanava prayers forehead to forehead. Fall Equinox doing the VISION BUILDER practice from my new Heart Centered Planner! (Will’s the best test audience.) “Let’s always live by the ocean. Let’s go to Denmark or Croatia and bring everyone with us.” Heaps of tenderness. Talking all the time about all the things. A lot of music. Always, music. Constant professing of Love.

I don’t think it’s that couples “patch it up”, after a rupture. I think we brighten it up. We bring light to the dark corners of our psyche. And that light shows us what’s possible, together.
